Jimmy Guan, DVM, ‘23 has accepted a zoo/wildlife pathology residency at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.

Cornell has one of the oldest pathology training programs in the country. Training consists of an intense three-year course of study designed to prepare competitively selected veterinarians for careers in veterinary diagnostic pathology, industrial and pharmaceutical pathology, comparative pathology, or to provide a foundation for graduate studies leading to a career in biomedical research.

Mr. Guan was raised in Skokie, IL, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Loyola University of Chicago. He plans to become a board-certified anatomic pathologist, specializing in zoo/wildlife disease and molecular diagnostics. Specifically, he plans to study the impact that the growing human-animal interface has on both wildlife and human health.

Outside of his veterinary studies, he collects houseplants, raises tortoises, and is continuing to perfect his sourdough recipe.
