1. What are you working on now that excites you the most?
Currently, I am most excited about expanding research opportunities and education for our COMP-NW students. I co-direct the Biomedical Research Track with Dr. Brian Wasko, and we have doubled our enrollment from last year. We are always looking for ways to improve our curriculum and connect students with mentors in the research community.
2. What book has had the greatest impact on your life?
The Light We Carry by Michelle Obama. I love her transparency regarding her life experiences and relationships, and her perspective on living life in a positive light.
3. What is your most prized possession?
My wedding ring. It’s a symbol of my commitment to my marriage and family, and the continued life path we are taking together.
4. What is something that surprises people about you?
Although I am trained as a basic scientist, I have clinical experience too! My dog Hunter and I volunteered as a pet therapy team at OHSU for 4 years. We made routine visits with patients, families and staff on the cardiovascular ICU, trauma/surgical ICU, neurology and pediatrics floors.
5. What piece of advice would you give to five year old you?
There is no one else like you, so be the person you want to be!
