Vice Chair & Assistant Professor of Anatomy

1. What are you working on now that excites you the most?

I am about to launch a study looking at stress and physical symptoms of stress in medical, dental, veterinary, and PT students. Physical symptoms of stress haven’t been studied in this sample of health profession students, so I’m very interested to see the results. Long-term, my goal is to develop individual, interpersonal, and systemic interventions to help health professionals and students with burnout.

 2. What book has had the greatest impact on your life?

This is a difficult question! I really can’t pick just one. I love to read fiction and always have a pile of books on my bedside table (and the floor…) Anything by Jacqueline Winspear and Louise Penny. Their characters are very thoughtful, reflective, and mindful – all qualities I work on in myself (clearly with mixed results).

3. What is your most prized possession?

These aren’t really possessions – in fact they would say I’m their possession – but my two dogs McNulty and Maggie bring so much joy, laughter, and snuggles into my life!

4. What is something that surprises people about you?

I have a bit of a wicked sense of humor – but I don’t let it out at work 😉.

5. What piece of advice would you give to five year old you?

I think I could give myself this advice at any age, but keep singing and dancing and doing things that make you happy without worrying about doing them perfectly.
