The DPT program at CHS-Northwest held its Spirit Day on November 29, with the theme of “Celebrating Success.” This particular day was chosen as it was one of the rare times that all students would be in the building together, and it offered them an opportunity to boost morale and create connection. Prior to the event, we held the first joint SGA meeting with all three cohorts, and established the theme, class colors and chants, and key takeaways, including inclusion, empowerment, and pride. Each class was asked to choose a spirit leader, as well as one student and faculty member to speak on their behalf regarding what they wanted to celebrate in their class and what they hope to achieve.
Students, faculty, and staff gathered at noon. Each class had prepared a cheer/chat and had chosen a student speaker and faculty speaker to address the whole group with an inspiring message. The student speakers conveyed the overarching message that the college and campus, through adversity and vigor, have cultivated in all of us a sense of courage and creativity. Dean Perry closed the rally with the assurance of support and encouragement, reminding all of us that the journey has been tough but has almost made us stronger, resilient, and ready for any challenge.
There was music, treats, and time to connect with each other. This event achieved and even surpassed our goals of building morale and providing connection.
