In August, the COMP-Northwest Medical Simulation Department partnered with Samaritan Lebanon hospital, Lebanon Fire, Lebanon Police, and Life-Flight to host a multi-victim trauma scenario.  Three patients, including a pediatric trauma patient, were simulated using role players with moulage and manakins from the scene of an MVA, to ambulance transport, then to ED settings for stabilization.  The pediatric patient was key, as pediatric trainings are rare, but critical for patient outcomes.  Two patients went to the hospital ED, while one went to the simulation lab ED at COMP-Northwest.  The pediatric trauma was then Life-Flighted out to a higher level trauma hospital, one adult was treated and observed, and one was treated and then went to the cardiac catheterization lab after identification of an myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest.  DO students were used as volunteers and role players at all levels of the training, including both EDs.  The entire event was also streamed to our Lecture Hall so that all could watch and discuss the nuances of the trainings being done.
