The WesternU CVM Veterinary Summer Research Program (VSRP) is a joint venture between the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Office for Research, and the WesternU Office of Research and Biotechnology, to engage veterinary students in research during the summer months.
“Our veterinary summer research program is designed to train future veterinary scientists and to inspire our students to remain engaged in the discovery of knowledge to improve animal and human health and welfare,” said Dominique Griffon, DACVS, PhD, Program Director for the Veterinary Summer Research Program.
The VSRP was highly successful this past summer, with 18 impactful studies and presentations by CVM students. At the end of the program, students participated in the dissemination of their results and shared their experience with other mentors and peers by presenting their posters at the National Veterinary Scholars Symposium in San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 4-6, 2023. Below are the abstract titles the CVM students presented.
Our CVM students are unique in their diverse backgrounds, experience, and interest, but all share a strong motivation to learn. For more information on joining the program as a mentor, presenter or even scholar, please contact Dr. Griffon at dgriffon@westernu.edu
