Nurses are the superheroes for patient safety and quality care for the perioperative client.
Dr. Rod Hicks, CGN Professor and Associate Dean, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural AORN Perioperative Nursing Research Symposium on November 2, 2023. This two day symposium attracted over 200 participants. Dr. Hicks’ presentation was titled “Why Nurses Should be Leaders in Perioperative Research”. The three main points of the presentation focused on:
1) Why perioperative care needs transformation for safe quality outcomes,
2) How nurses achieve credibility in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement,
and
3) Visioning.
All audience members were left with a call to action to be part of the change.
